Maine Lumbermen

  1. Hard working men.
Does anyone know why the center fellow's axe has a curved handle?

  2. Look up the woodsmen who logged the Pacific NW forests. Now, those were men! I'm only 61, but I recall in Medford Oregon, back in the late 50's even, the definition of "log truck" was just that. A truck with one humongous log on it.
I have a book my father gave me, by a photographer, Kinsey, who, in the early 1900's photographed the timber industry in Washington state. Folks put roofs on stumps of trees and lived in them. There's one photo of a man, wife, and two children that lived in one. Amazing!

  3. Think I'll stick with my chainsaw.
