  1. Those old racing sea planes were nothing short of elegant. It's an age past and gone, but it was filled with innovation and promise.

  2. One of my most prized possessions was an original copy of "Dave Dashaway and his Hydroplane," published in 1913.

It was a book that my Dad had read & enjoyed as a boy, an exciting tale of thieves trying to steal the new airship design, so it had to be flown across the Great Lakes, landing in farmers' fields, on rivers and lakes, and on rural roads. Few airfields back then!

Sadly all my childhood possessions have been lost, but I'd still like to re-read that book, which this sleek beauty of a plane reminded me of.

    1. What an age of miracles we live in! Just checked DuckDuckGo for Dave Dashaway, found several links, one to Amazon!

Where I've just downloaded the Kindle edition for the tremendous price of: $0.00! I. Am. Gobsmacked.

Well, it isn't the same as having the actual book my father had- but at least I can read it once again!
