From Hurricane Andrew in 1992

Hurricane Andrew made landfall with sustained winds of 165 mph, and wind gusts as high as 177 mph.

  1. That's something you expect to see more from a tornado.

  2. A friend was in the Aussie SAS who went to Darwin after Cyclone Tracy had wiped it out, back in the 70's.

He showed me pictures. One was a refrigerator, cut in half. It had been sliced neatly by a piece of roofing tin, going at God-only-knows speed. Wind can have incredible strength at high velocities.

I pray that everyone affected by that hurricane stays safe, and I hope they stay inside! Those winds are unbelievable, and anything they pick up can be deadly!
