Should you take up Japanese style fly fishing this summer?

  2. That's the stupidest fishing thing I've ever seen. WTF is so JAPANESE about that? What, They couldn't afford a reel?

  3. The reel makes practical sense in areas where there isn't a lot of overhead shrubbery. The fish see the fisherman's shadow bouncing around and they spook. Which is why allowing the fly to drift through the hole works better.

  4. That would be perfect for my trout stream. I always wanted try fly fishing out there, but there are very few spots where you could actually cast a fly. Maybe it's time that I try something like this and give the worms a reprieve.......

  5. Using the fly rod as a cane pole doesn't seem like a large leap in how we fish.
