  1. I remember taking off from there. It was an LST. The ship lost control air just before we got to the bridge. All the MPDE dropped to idle. There was a second class EN as EOOW. None of the Chiefs could be bothered to be in Main Control for Sea and Anchor Detail. As prospective engineering officers we could not have seen a better example of shit poor leadership at every level. The skipper had fired his CHENG the week before we got there.

    Still, Floyd Bennet Field. An airport is not generally what one thinks of as a seaport. Alameda was much nicer. West Coast doncha know.
