And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

The difference between an alligator snapping turtle and a common snapper.
Don't float nude down a southern American river, face down on an inner tube, especially if you are a guy.
I've floated in many rivers and lakes, never worried about turtles. Alligators, on the other hand ... I've met a few way too close and personal. Water skiing on a gravel pit lake and broke the fin off the ski when I bounced off the back of a nice sized gator. Those and water moccasins are way more worrisome.
And if a snapping turtle doesn't take it, an alligator gar might.
