Thousands of US troops on Russia's doorstep in Poland deployment

I'm actually in support of this.   You can argue about the extent of the deployment, but when you play Realpolitik, you have to play.

And Russians being Russians, they will only stop when they think you are serious about stopping them. If you doubt this, ask the Georgians, the Ukrainians, or the Chechens.  Or the Poles, who know all about Russians, and are ecstatic over our arrival.

Plus, Poland is a NATO nation, and we are well within our rights to post troops wherever we damn well please.  Russia isn't going to start a war over this, but they may begin to cool their jets on bullying their Baltic neighbors.

This is one of the few times I'm agreeing with Obama on something.  Savor it.

  1. Did Barry need 8 years to do something effective and rational?

    1. I frankly doubt it was him. Probably there are still a few grown ups knocking around the Pentagon, and one of them likely got to him. Come to think of it, given his adventures in Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq, and multiple locations we don't know of, it might not take much to get him shooting.

And that's the real worry here. Deterrence is necessary at times with tyrants like Putin, but you have to walk a fine line, and I'm certain Barry isn't really up to that. He'll cut and run if things get hot, I'm afraid, and Putin knows that.

    3. That was hilarious, and the poll info was interesting as well.

  2. Barry only knows about sticks; thank God, Trump knows about carrots as well as sticks.

Barry's just trying to put his little stick in Trump's spokes, but as usual he screwed it up. I'm not worried, I think President Trump will handle this just fine.

  3. Barack pulled the missile defense system from Poland. This is an attempt to set things right. The Russians aren't happy but we need to show support for our Polish allies. I'm personally very fond of the Pols. They're great people and the Russians have screwed them over and over and over again historically.

  4. This is symbolic more so than anything else. 4,000 grunts would barely make Putin's gorillas slow down if they decided to migrate west. And no, nobody's going to push any red buttons-yet.

    1. Maybe so, but they are Third Brigade 4th Infantry. Not many, if any, better.
