Game of Arrows. ca. 1900. Source - Yale Collection of Western Americana, Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library.

  1. "I shot an arrow/into the air, it fell to earth/I know not where." If I were one of those braves, I'd be mindful of where the arrows will come down, and not stand there. Is that the game?

The loser gets the arrow he shot- stuck in his head?

Hmm. Don't think my mother would want me playing that game!

  2. Now this brings back memories.
Played this game nearly 50 years ago, when I was a kid. Winner was the one whose arrow landed closest. Yikes.

(Still not sure how I survived my teens...)

  3. We played it with lawn darts in the 70's. We didn't wear helmets back then. Boys will be boys. JP
