The difference

One egg is store bought, one from our yard dragons.

A bit of a difference, isn't it?

    1. Funny story - I took one of my god-daughters (city-girl) to visit her Grandparents (earthy people) and when asked how many cackle berries she wanted for breakfast, the look of question took over her face until we explained that not only were they eggs, but that chickens really did "cackle".

  2. Wow, I haven't heard them called cackle berries since I was a kid.

That egg on the right looks great. My wife used to buy fresh eggs from a fellow teacher who raised chickens. They looked just like that. Too bad she retired two years ago. I need to find a new source.............

  4. marigold extract in store bought feed makes the yokes a darker yellow, grasshoppers and tomato worms probably help the color also.
Our Khaki Campbells lay like crazy and are more fun to watch than chickens

    1. Khaki Campbells are fun, though I had just as much fun with my Americanas, who were great, consistent layers. And great chicken tractors.
