Who can name these men and why they are notable.

  1. Niel Armstrong, Roger Chafee, Edwin Aldrin. They were the top purchasers of Corvettes at Coco Beach Chevrolet.

    1. Oops, yes of course. My bad. I had Collins in mind when I wrote it but was thinking of Apollo 1 at the same time. Age is rearing its ugly head in my case.

    2. Somehow, Collins doesn't look like a Corvette kind of guy.

    2. They DID have matching Vettes. Funny how Buzz, the only non-pilot and mathematician, had the turtleneck on. What a dork. I bet his Vette had pink trim.

    3. I love that boyish smile on Neal's face, looking straight at the camera, in a 'we've got this' confident pose. A true test-pilots' pilot (everything from that era up to and including the X-15!), he truly had the right stuff. I miss seeing heroes like this.

  4. The Apollo missions are truly humankinds most remarkable achievement to date! www.apolloarchive.com has a fairly complete record of mission photos and media including a couple of my favorites:
    Apollo 11 mission; AS11-44-6547, AS11-40-5875
    Apollo 12 mission; AS12-48-7135
    Apollo 15 mission; AS15-85-11451, AS15-85-11489
    Apollo 17 mission; AS17-134-20384, AS17-143-21941
Check this site out, it was a wonderful time!
