And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

First thought when I saw this, "Man, that horse would overheat dressed like that."
I have quite the collection of "Swedish Horses" in the kitchen as my grandmother through adoption was Swedish. My grandfather was Norwegian so that made for some lively conversations around the dinner table with them teasing each other about "10,000 Swedes were caught in the weeds, in the battle of old Copenhagen".

ReplyDeleteMy dad's side is from Skåne and Blekinge. I find I like the taste of pickled herring. Must be some sort of genetic memory.
