California sign painter kept missing his exit in LA because the exit was poorly marked. Guerrilla action ensued.

Apparently having too much time on his hands, painter Richard Ankrom decided to fix the problem himself, rather than face the hurdles of running his suggestion through the bureaucracy.

Richard did such a good job that when Caltrans finally found out and investigated, they discovered that the guerrilla sign was perfectly up to code, and left it there for another eight years.  When they finally updated the sign, they incorporated Richard's addition.  Good work all around, gentlemen.
