And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
It's funny how you can just tell the Indians in these photos are real. To me, it's totally obvious when a modern photo is taken in a way that is meant to look old (1910 or earlier). There is just some sort of "look" or vibe that tells you it is real.
Apparently "civilized" at the time the photo was taken, but twenty years previously -- I doubt it.
