This brought me up a bit short today.

An excerpt from this poem of Carl Sandburgs.

This old anvil laughs at many broken hammers.
There are men who can't be bought.
The fireborn are at home in fire.
    The stars make no noise,
You can't hinder the wind from blowing.
    Time is a great teacher.
    Who can live without hope?

In the darkness with a great bundle of grief
    the people march.
In the night, and overhead a shovel of stars for keeps, the people
march:
    "Where to? what next?"

Something to keep in mind as we travel through the next couple of years.

  1. "There are men who can't be bought"... I pray that is still true.

Sometimes I can totally relate to this.

And rest assured that there are indeed men who can't be bought. They might not be in government, though.

    2. old anvil... I think anyone that was ranch raised can relate to the old anvil, not just for shoeing horses, but a myriad of other things...

    3. Man alive, one of these days I'm going to find an old anvil to acquire, and then I'll set up a forge, and then I'll....

      Dreams.
