Friday Open Road

Or, the art of the escape.

  1. You out-did yourself with this one. I can't pick a favorite. One thing is certain, though. Escape is essential for sanity. Just like every contract needs an escape clause and a sanity clause -- even if you don't believe in Santy Clause...

  3. # 11 is just beautiful - would be a favorite place to get away from it all.

    1. Anon, I have to tell you that my American woman has been the best partner and helpmate I could have asked for. World class. You might be running in the wrong crowd.

  7. #3 Cee Dub, Alabama Hills with Whitney Portal to the west. Good clean air, a steaming cup of coffee and the sun will be on my back in a few minutes.

    1. I'll add an old Griswold skillet with some bacon frying up, and a couple of farm eggs in the grease.

  8. They all bring back wonderful memories. I had that same VW van in SOCAL and I camped up and down the coast from Encinitas to Half Moon Bay in it. I was camping alone back in those days so mine had a leather club chair in the back with a reading lamp. I could park with a good view with the side door wide open, the moon roof rolled back and relax anywhere away from the works of man.
