Frank Perry at the Dugout, Lambshead Ranch, Albany, Texas, 1988

  1. Dugouts made sense. They still do to some degree. Insulation, protection from attack (you can argue it, but from a small tactics perspective, it's like attacking a cave of sorts), and expense.

I live in a subdivision, not a dugout. It's more of a function of suburban sprawl and no dug-out space available. Then again, I wear a suit. My consolation to myself is that I drive a Raptor and also carry a handgun wherever I go...cold comfort.

    Sux to be me.

  3. Love the B&W photo. Look like it was taken a hundred years ago.

    1. Some places out west look like the 1890's. Finding them is the fun part.

    2. I was thinking the caption of the photo would have been just as believable if it had read 1888 as it was for 1988, possibly more so.
