Mounted Blackfoot Indians are seen scouting in the picture below. With a territory stretching from the Saskatchewan River in Canada to the Yellowstone in the US, this tribe controlled one of the largest pieces of the North American prairie.

Named for their black moccasins, the tribe today has about 32,000 members and is split almost evenly between Alberta and Saskatchewan in Canada and Montana in the US.
